de l&rsquo;op\u00e9ra et admirateur de Mozart et Da Ponte, James Gray a choisi, pour sa premi\u00e8re mise en sc\u00e8ne d&rsquo;op\u00e9ra, de suivre les indications contenues dans le livret et la musique et de situer l&rsquo;intrigue \u00e0 la fin du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle afin de mieux concentrer l&rsquo;attention des spectateurs sur les \u00e9motions des personnages et les relations qui les lient.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>Mozart vit musicalement ses personnages avant tout comme des \u00eatres de chair et d\u00e9sir<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, dit James Gray, \u00ab\u00a0<em>et les personnages [de Da Ponte] incarnent plus des \u00e9motions que des id\u00e9es, si r\u00e9volutionnaires soient-elles<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>Finalement nos \u00e9motions, nos d\u00e9sirs, nos motivations ne sont pas si \u00e9loign\u00e9s de celles et ceux de l\u2019\u00e9poque de Mozart.<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb En utilisant la salle et les deux prosceniums lat\u00e9raux pour faire \u00e9voluer ses personnages au milieu de public, James Gray cherche \u00e0 provoquer une intimit\u00e9 et une identification entre les spectateurs et les personnages.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" <strong>sc\u00e9nographie<\/strong>, Santo Loquasto a choisi des tons ocres unis, qui font mieux ressortir les couleurs et les d\u00e9tails des costumes. Suivant les didascalies, le 1er acte se d\u00e9roule dans la future chambre de Suzanne et Figaro, le deuxi\u00e8me, dans le boudoir de la Comtesse, le 3e, au pied d&rsquo;un escalier monumental, et le dernier, dans un jardin qui n&rsquo;est pas sans rappeler ceux de S\u00e9ville (apr\u00e8s tout, c&rsquo;est l\u00e0 que se d\u00e9roule l&rsquo;action !) Bertrand Couderc \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re sculpte les d\u00e9cors pour transformer chacun des instants en un plan digne du cin\u00e9ma.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les costumes de Christian Lacroix<\/strong>. correspondent, eux aussi, \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque et au lieu : fin du XVIIIe si\u00e8cle, S\u00e9ville. \u00ab\u00a0<em>Plus Goya que Marie-Antoinette<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, les costumes du Comte et de la Comtesse abondent en d\u00e9tails luxuriants, dont la richesse progresse au fil de l\u2019\u0153uvre.
