About
An unconventional take on Saint-Saëns’ joyful and playful classic for young and old alike, which stays true to the caustic humour of the original. In this Jazz Carnival of the Animals, children and adults will trace the history of jazz and its different styles, from blues to bebop, and including swing, free jazz, New Orleans brass bands, bossa nova, funk, and jazz rock. The onager treats us to some bebop, the hens and cockerel get funky, the rabbits get into the groove, the birds dance the samba, and the fossils do a lindy hop… But what could the finale possibly have in store for us? Wolves dancing to the sound of the carnival big band, no less!
